Burma’s Bombings

Three explosions on Thursday, April 15, 2010 injured 170 people and killed 9. The bombings occurred in the middle of the 4 day water festival, also known as Thingyan for the Burmese New Year.

Who is responsible for the explosions?

There is no word on who is responsible for the explosions, but the involvement of the military is not disregarded.

The military junta has blamed ethnic minorities for the explosions; however, many suspect that the military is behind the attacks as a way to heighten pressure for their opponents in the 2010 elections.
