Interview with Thai Deputy Prime Minister in Washington DC

Filed under: Interviews — voaburmese @ 5:03 pm

As I watched the interview with Thai Deputy Prime Minister, Trairong Suwannakhiri in studio, I was glad with how candid the Deputy Prime Minister was. In previous interviews, diplomats would go round about with the questions- never really answering anything. Suwannakhiri was comfortable with the interview as he stated frankly on the topics he knew and claimed what he did not know ( ex: about Burma’s Nuclear Ambition). Although there is controversy on the treatment of refugees in Thailand, Suwannakhiri says that Thailand hosts thousands of refugees and still opens their arms to refugees and migrant workers. As for the current Thai protests, Suwannakhiri says that more law has to be enforced.

Watch the video:

” Washington, DC – U Thein Htike Oo (VOA Burmese) sits down with the Thai Deputy Prime Minister, Trairong Suwannakhiri to talk about the ongoing political crisis in Thailand and the impact on Burmese migrant workers.”
